Abstract
Describe how to duplicate items from a Remember The Milk (RTM) list to a new list. This note discusses a use case that involves a tagged list. This approach would work for normal list/item duplication except for the disposition of the tags.
Here’s the use case:
- I have a list, Shopping, that contains items that are tagged for Costco. There are other items in the Shopping list with other tags. These items do not have a due date.
- The Shopping list contains any item that I buy at Costco.
- I want to create a subset of the Costco items and create a list for my next Costco run.
- The specific Costco checklist list should be a subset of the Costco tagged list.
Here’s the procedure:
- Create a new list … something like Costco - yyyymmdd.
- In the Costco tagged list, mark any times that you want to for your current checklist.
- Duplicate the tagged items.
- Move the marked items from the tag list to the new list (i.e. the marked items remained marked after the duplicate).
- Open the new list.
- Select all items with the tag.
- Remove the tag. (Otherwise, the tagged list will show dups).
Comments
- I found the basis for this procedure, Copy a List (Template) on a RTM forum here. Thanks for the idea Angus.
- This idea could be applied to any list of a repetitive nature (e.g. shopping, packing, etc).
- I think I will do something like this with my vacation packing list.
